“When a period of feasting had run its course, Job would make arrangements for [his children] to be purified. Early in the morning he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of them, thinking, ‘Perhaps my children have sinned and cursed God in their hearts.’ This was Job’s regular custom.” Job 1:5
There are two things that I love about this passage in the Bible. First, Job is sober minded about his kids. I’ve met many parents who think their kids are above the issues that “other kids” have and can’t even fathom what you are saying if you try to tell them otherwise. Job is realistic that his kids have their own issues. But second, Job takes ownership as a dad and does something on behalf of his kids’ issues. He realizes that they themselves may not understand their own mistakes so he makes it a regular habit to go to God on behalf of his children.
