Kids Always Remember
I’ve had a few reminders lately from some unexpected places of how kids remember and hold onto their relationship (or lack thereof) with their dad for their entire lives. I was recently listening to the radio and heard a song from a mainstream rock group about remembering his relationship with his dad. Here are a few of the lyrics:
Dear Father, forgive me Cause in your eyes, I just never added up In my heart I know I failed you, but you left me here alone [Chorus] If I could hold back the rain, would you numb the pain? Cause I remember everything. If I could help you forget, would you take my regrets? Cause I remember everything.
If you know the reputation of this group, it is a somewhat shocking and reflective song for their normally tough exterior. It is a reminder that we all carry this powerful relationship with us no matter who we are. You can listen to the song below.
